Default Dervish or Paragon?

Hi.

I am not new to this game, but I got bored with my Characters and deleted them (I was tired and didnt pay full attention at the time), I am now going to start playing again and I'm wondering what would be better for PVE or PVP (I mainly play PVE though).

Paragon seem quite appealing, but is it a support class? If so, I wont make one.

Please help.

Well, any class can do well on its own. But a paragon does so well as party multiplier that it's a waste not to do so...

Paragon really is a support class, and according to the a reccent poll in riverside, is the most unpopular class to play in all of GW.

do you mean Unpopular because they are useless or just theres not enough people playing as one?

what class would have an Easier time finding a party, i mean, would People acutally need me in the party if I was a Paragon?

Which doesn't make much sense to me. Paragons have so many team buffs it's amazing. I was initially skeptical of paragons until I decided to make one and try to get legendary survivor. Couldn't believe how well they survive, and how well they help the team survive too. Now that there are Sunspear and Kurzick/Luxon skills, paragons are even better in pve. Of course, they were always good in pvp...

There are three mele classes (warrior, assasin, dervish) and probably 90% of people who start this game made one of them, myself included. Since you really don't want more than two mele in your group I think it would be easier to find groups as a paragon. But then again they are more of a support class than direct range damage like rangers are, and you implied you didn't want to play a support class.

Dervish is a weird melee hybrid class that, for general PVE, doesn't -really- synergise that well with anything else; especially when you're just starting a new one and aren't familiar with how it all works out. It's an interesting class, and it's very effective in PVE (where area attacks are king; scythe area + burst auras are great) but mine's collecting dust at the moment. Arguably some of the most-boring armor. Get pretty badass avatar transformations that let them change appearance to and take on certain aspects of each of the five gods.

Paragon is a support class, no doubt of that, but they're also very strong, with the equivalent of warrior armor (and a great insignia to boost it up even higher). My only problem with them is the excessively-fancy armor and how little of it can be dyed; don't pick one if you don't like wearing white.

paragons are boring and not so useful. dervishes are dps/survival machines and very fun to play.

Paragons have an eaiser time staying alive. Armor that's almost as good as a warrior's (max armor for a paragon is 80, but doesn't have the same boost against physical that the warrior has), the ability to use shields, and attacking at range. Not to mention a wide range of buffs that can't be stripped by the enemy.

The paragon isn't just support either. True, their vocal abilities help buff up your party quite a lot, but they're also capable of putting out a very impressive DPS with their spears. The profession is very well balanced between attack and defence.

I know youve already chosen but to answer your earlier question imo getting into a party wold be much easier with a derv rather then a para this is just what i find though.

No, they usually say "GLF ele, tank and 2 monks..." Then you invite as a paragon and they hit decline invitation and u rage in the district as to why no one wants to take you and you resort to using heroes and beating it faster than the sub-par pug did anyway...

Honestly, anymore I see "invite self" way way way more than specific queries (aside from monks, but people are generally just as happy with a hero as a real person). And a halfway decent guild will alleviate that more or less completely.

I'd never really fancied Paragon much, but having now taken all classes as far as Vabbi (for treasures) - I do have to say that I was surprised by how easy it seemed with my Paragon. It feels like a faster paced ranger, with some nice skills to boost team damage, in addition to applying conditions. I didn't fall in love with the class, but I have started using motivation henchies more.

Para lover here ;-)

In reply to the OP - nothing is worse in this game than playing with PUGs, mate. Your Para has Warrior-class armor, warrior class damage from a distance, superb party mainentance skills, and if you're in a group, screw pugs. If you aren't in a Guild, well-built Paras have little trouble beating all three chapters with heroes and henchies. Unpopular does not mean unpowerful ;-) Besides - 9 out of every 10 toons in Kamadan is a Derv nowadays. Why not be a little different? Truly, Dervishes have some outrageous strengths, but in the long run Paras are a much more "survivable" class. Glad you went that route ;-)

I made3 a Dervish and a Para and personally I don't like the dervish to me they are liek the new assassin mainly for PvP and no one really cares to have them in a group when they can have a Warrior as a tank or a ele Paragons aere a more effective class in PvE or PvP because liek the rit ualist they help enchance the team by dmg or defense wise when i made my para I really liked him becuase it was like haveing a Rit/ranger/warrior all in one as for dervish I only felt like I got brute ower (like the assassin) and warrior and was rejected from many groups becuase they wanted a arrior or ele over a dervish So my pick for anyone is Para hands down
